Only a few books this month, where did the time go? However, I found a few books that I really loved this month.
A Botanist’s Guide to Parties and Poisons – Kate Khavari

This was an ARC given to me by Net Galley. I loved this book! The mystery was well constructed and twisty, the protagonist delightful, the romance believable and intriguing, and the secondary characters were so well made! Set just after the first world war, this book has the sort of cosy quality I associate with Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, and I read the whole thing in one sitting!
Intolerable – Darcy Burke

This was an ARC given to me by Net Galley. This was a fun period romp. The story was equal parts romantic and funny. I was not expecting it to be as smutty as it was, but I still enjoyed it. A fun read with a very bizarre title? I’m not sure what the title had to do with anything. But, if you like period romance with a side of fake dating, you’ll enjoy this.
Daughter of Sparta – Claire M. Andrews

I finally bought this after getting it recommended to me a while back. This is a thrilling, adventurous read and an imaginative retelling of the tale of Daphne and Apollo. I thoroughly enjoyed Daphne and the story was gripping. An excellent read for anyone who enjoys retellings of myths and legends.
The House by the Sea – Louise Douglas

A haunting thriller that muddies the waters between real and supernatural, this book was equal parts twisty and tragic. A deeply emotional tale with an amazing array of believable characters and tragedy at every turn.
