Writing Update

This week went well writing wise! Wow alliteration. It comes as a surprise to be simply because of the amount of random untoward personal life stuff. A friend is going through some health issues. Some scary health issues. Work kicked off in the kind of way where it feels a lot like you’re drowning.

But I digress.

I’ve been really enjoying using the Scrivener app to write recently. I have it on my iPad, so, on the bus to or from work, I can just pull it out and crank out my words. Once thing the app has that I really enjoy is the ability to set targets for the session of writing.

As far as I can tell there is no such feature on the Mac version. So, when I open the app, I can just set myself a target, write away and see the little wheel fill in. Very satisfying.

You can also set overall word targets, but I tend not to do that.

I’m now five chapters into my first draft, which feels pretty amazing. I hope I can keep up this momentum.

What do you guys use to write? Are you old school? Do you have a favourite app?

  1. It’s always awesome to be on a roll! For me at least, I feel much better having written than writing itself, so having these metrics make for great motivation. Wishing you all the best!
